Yoga in Schools

“Yoga has helped me to concentrate more, especially as we have just done exams. I was hoping to be able to stretch more and be more flexible and yoga has helped me to do so. I learnt a lot of great things from yoga.”

Yoga for children and young adults has proven to become a valuable tool in enabling youngsters to stay focused and display longer attention spans in the classroom.

Younger children love to play. In using a structure to stimulate their creative ability, they are given the opportunity to express themselves through their own invention. They engage with a sense of fun whilst learning the basis of this ancient tradition.

Older children become better equipped to deal with stressful situations such as exam preparation, hormonal changes in puberty, and coping with intense emotions at a delicate stage in life.

The asanas (postures) help reinforce strength, flexibility and good posture at a critical point of development in the body. The breathing techniques have been known to reduce bronchial conditions such as asthma, provide stress relief and aid relaxation. Yoga can be used as a complete system for helping to develop a balanced personality, both emotionally and mentally.

Ceri offers packages that can be adapted to suit the ages of the children and particular needs of the school. She is available for workshops between the hours of 9.30am - 2.30pm.
